I’ve wanted to capture the detail of an aspen stand during the fall, but never quite achieved the image that I’ve wanted or found the right grouping of aspens. This year I finally found the scene I had been hoping for with the warm fall colors to complement the scene. Here’s an aspen stand I found during a trip to Uncompahgre National Forest along Owl Creek Pass. Instead of being up close to the scene I was able to capture this from a distance and use the compression of the long lens to capture the feel I wanted for the abstract.
Just a reminder that next fall Ryan Wright and I will be conducting a photo tour of the San Juan and West Elk Mountains during fall foliage here in Colorado. Check out our photo tour site (Colorado Photo Tours) for more information and to book your spot in next year’s tour.
