This past fall I was up at Lake Estes in Estes Park, Colorado at sunrise and captured a number of bulls crossing the lake in the morning coming down from the hills to meet up with other herds during rutting season. I was lucky enough to capture this bull as he exited the lake and had a perfect vantage point below the crest of a hill behind some trees. The morning sunrise was up just enough to highlight his rack and the backside of his body in this image. As you can see the fur on this bull was still matted down from crossing the chest high lake.
