BaoHaus

I thought I would make today another Food Friday! I’m foodie and love try new things when I’m traveling, especially to New York City. New York City is known for having some amazing food. Some of the best food is on food trucks, street vendors or “hole in the wall” places.

I heard about a place called BaoHaus.  It was started by Eddie and Evan Huang that makes homestyle Taiwanese-Chinese food just like they used to eat at home. The food is fresh, home-made food like “Mom” used to make. The BaoHaus in New York City is near 14th St. and 2nd Ave over by Union Square.

It’s a very small place with just a few tables. I decided to get my food to go and just buy an assortment of their food and bring it back to the hotel for some food photography. It never hurts to add to my stock photography portfolio. The BaoHaus did not disappoint. The food is excellent! I highly recommend this place if you are ever in New York. It’s cheap and good eats! Anyway here are a some pics of BaoHaus‘ wonderful food.

By the way, bring your hotel bell man leftovers. They will become your best friends!

Have a great weekend!

Capture Notes:

  • Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II
  • Lens: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
  • Make Shift Studio – I didn’t have a flash so I used two hotel lamps, white plates from the hotel room – shot at ISO 800 – anywhere from f2.8-f4.5
  • Post Processing: I used Nik Software Color Efex Pro 4 and applied the Remove Color Cast to remove some of the yellow color cast from the images and the Detail Extractor, then ran it through Nik Software Viveza 2 to bring out color and detail in specific areas, such as the cilantro and the red pepper flakes, using the control points.

Cupcakes

How about a nice treat to start the weekend?!  I’ve been working quite a bit with off camera flash doing portrait and product images. These cupcakes will make a nice addition to my stock photography portfolio.

These amazing cupcakes came from a local Food Truck here in the Denver area called Sweet ‘Ness Cupcakes!  I’m not sure about where you live, but food trucks have taken off here in Denver.  You can get some of the most amazing food from these trucks and the food doesn’t break the bank.  If you are in Parker, Colorado you can usually find Sweet ‘Ness Cupcakes parked near Long’s Way and Parker Rd., just north of Main Street.  The cupcakes pictured are their Pistachio and Lavender cupcakes. They go great with a cup of coffee.

Have a great weekend!
