This is Horseshoe Bend near the town of Page, Arizona in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area. It’s a bend in the Colorado River that looks like a horseshoe. Ryan and I reached the parking lot just before sunset and of course it required a hurried pace to the view point to capture this place at sunset. It’s only a 1/2 mile hike, but no one told me it would be up a sandy hill. I think I’ve had too many lattes and cookies lately so I was huffing and puffing. It’s time to work on my fitness during the winter months 🙂 .
You have probably seen this view before. I was looking for a unique view, but it came back to this traditional view. I decided to do a vertical panorama and so this image is a combination of vertical images to capture more of the detail. I was lucky enough to capture a few planes streaking across the sky and a houseboat moving to a new location during my captures to add some interest and perspective to the scene.
