I’m taking you back to one of my favorite places, Grand Teton National Park. I had the opportunity to visit this wonderful national park twice this year. It’s amazing how different the landscape looks in different times of the year. This image is from late September, right as the colors were starting to change for Fall. This particular day after capturing the sunrise at Oxbow Bend we came upon Jackson Lake about mid morning and the wind had calmed allowing Jackson Lake to become mirror-like. Most other times I’ve driven by Jackson Lake it’s had some wake early in the morning. Sometimes it’s just luck being in the right place at the right time.
The final destination this past weekend was Emerald Lake. It’s a short 1.8 miles from the Bear Lake trail head to this beautiful lake. Get to Bear Lake before 8am or it starts to get crowded. If you get to the parking lot after 8am, your likely not to get a parking spot. Why would you want to get to the start of this trail after 8am? This picture shows you why you want to be all the way up at Emerald Lake at 8am. The water is like glass! It is just like a mirror. I think the only thing that would have been better would to have been at this lake at sunrise. I think the sunrise picture will go on my bucket list of things to capture. I don’t think this lake is quite as spectacular as Dream Lake, but it ranks up there as one of the beautiful views of Rocky Mountain National Park. This lake is very accessible and only a short hike away from the parking lot.
I captured some panoramas of Dream Lake, Emerald Lake and some macros of the plant life along the trail. I’m not sure I’ll have time to process them over the weekend, but will share them with you in the future.
Have a great weekend! Enjoy what is left of the summer. It’s gone by so quickly. Fall will be here soon. Can’t wait for some fall colors!
