The Mall

This is The Mall in Central Park.  It’s also known as the Grand Promenade.  The southern end of the mall contains an area known as the Literary Walk that is populated with a series of sculptures depicting popular literary figures.  The Mall is a place for visitors to come and socialize and an alternative to the secluded paths inside Central Park.  The Mall is lined on both sides with large majestic American Elm trees.  This is a popular spot filming location for movies.  I remember it in scenes from  When Harry Met Sally, Kramer vs. Kramer, Serendipity, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Big Daddy.

Capture Notes:

  • Awesome, Rick. This is the one spot in Central Park that I missed 🙁 Great job capturing all that colour!

  • A classic shot here man that you’ve captured wonderfully. Looks like it was a beautiful day!

  • Gorgeous colors and wonderful street scene. Really liking this tour you’re giving us!

  • Those trees and the way you got the light make the scene look so good. Nice work man.

  • This is such a beautiful spot Rick and you’ve done an amazing job of capturing it.

  • Nice comp and fantastic colors.

  • That’s a beautiful spot. Sadly the City lost close to 1,000 trees during last week’s storm. Since the leaves hadn’t yet fallen, the snow brought down many branches.

  • Cool spot, thanks for the info!

  • Nice shot, Rick. A beautiful scene indeed.

I’ll be heading to Brooklyn in a few weeks. I wonder what I’ll find in the park after reading Kris Koeller’s comment.

  • Fantastic colors and framing Rick! Sad to hear that many of these may be gone.

  • Ida

Aww…fabulous place to be in the fall. Beautifully captured. Has that movie feel.
