Today’s post takes you back to San Francisco. San Francisco is such a beautiful town with so many things to see and do in the area. I think I could have spent two or three weeks there. It’s definitely on my list of cities to visit again in the near future. This shot is of Union Square. It’s the hub for shopping, hotel, and theater district in San Francisco. This one block area is the largest collections of department stores, upscale boutiques, tourist trinket shops, art galleries, and salons in the United States.
I took this picture around midnight. The shops were closed and the only a few people were stirring around the square including one homeless person looking to have his picture taken. I gave him a couple of bucks and he was on his way to let me frame this scene in peace.
In this scene the tall monument in the center of the plaza is the Dewey monument. It is 97 ft (30 m) tall monument to Admiral George Dewey for his victory in the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. The tall sky rise behind it is the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.
