This past weekend in Colorado Springs was the annual Colorado Balloon Classic, the largest and the longest continuously running hot air balloon festival in the Rocky Mountain Region. This year the festival ran into a bit of bad weather and the ascension was cancelled on the first day. I went down for the festival and caught the ascension on the final day. The weather was perfect for the balloons to rise over Colorado Springs. I saw a photographer next to me doing some time-lapse. I may have to give that a try next year. One of these days I’d like to make it down to Albuquerque for the International Balloon Fiesta which is larger than this festival. It’s such a wonderful sight to see the bright-colored balloons over Prospect Lake with the mountains in the background and crystal blue skies.
Come back tomorrow and I’ll treat you to some star-gazing from Mt. Evans!
